Risa grew up in Louisville, Kentucky with her parents Regina and Randy, and her (barely) younger brother Ronnie. She left Kentucky for Brown University's 8-year medical program, but somewhere between organic chem labs and a cappella rehearsals, she fell in love with art. She moved to NYC in 2004 to earn her Master of Fine Arts at New York University. Now she keeps her power tools and building materials in her Brooklyn studio.
Ross was born in Manhattan and grew up in Marlboro, New Jersey with his parents Wendy and Steven, and his younger siblings Brittany and Palmer. Between summer camps and mischief nights, he studied international relations in a magnet high school program. In 2000, he returned to New York City where he earned both his undergraduate and law degrees at Columbia University. He is currently a partner at Kirkland and Ellis.
... at a nightclub. After a night of partying, we both ended up at the bar to close out our tabs at 3:45am. Risa noticed that Ross ordered a Negra Modelo because that was the beer she kept in her refrigerator at the time. Ross noticed Risa because she looked cute in her purple tights. She smiled at him and he smiled back. He struck up a conversation and she (allegedly) showed him every photo on her phone before hitting the dance floor together... and six years later, Ross popped the question and Risa gladly accepted.
We still live in Manhattan and we still love going out and dancing. We are always down to try fun new restaurants and are on a never-ending quest to find the perfect lobster roll. We can also be found skiing, picnicking in the park, wrapped around a karaoke microphone (our go-to duets are Mr. Brightside, Baby It's Cold Outside, and Love Story), hosting dinner parties, or binge watching Law and Order.
